Casa Mérida is situated in a humid, tropical climate, making bioclimate solutions one of the most important focal points of this project. The home—designed entirely on a single level—is oriented toward the north to minimize sun exposure while encouraging maximal cross-ventilation. Another central design concern is infusing the space with modernist design cues inherent in Mexico’s architectural heritage, to which the one-story flow and other details, like latticework and floor-to-ceiling windows, contribute. The property also gets a cool, contemporary touch with sleek travertino in calming neutral tones.
