This Pacific beachfront home represents a layered project—a kind of palimpsest: in one sense, because it’s a renovation that refreshes the existing structure; in another, because it assembles contemporary and traditional elements, as well as Mexican and Moroccan cultural cues. Part of what unifies the project is a dedication to using natural, handmade materials, like locally-fired clay tiles and raw linen or jute. Color is another unifier: the home comes together in warm earth tones in gathering spaces contrasted by refreshing sea-green hues in the bathrooms and kitchen.
