Casa O, situated in the lush oceanfront jungle landscape of Western Mexico, takes advantage of the terrain’s natural slope to achieve a unique spatial effect. At its front, the home appears to be a one-story structure punctuated by a pool that points toward the horizon and mirrors the surrounding sky and foliage. At its back, the home reveals anadditional story connected by a coiled, shell-like staircase that communicates the residential upper level and the lower leisure and guest spaces. Casa O was designed to accommodate both living and gathering—a duality marked by details that respond to a range of moods and functions. The property contains a sunken fire pit, plush seating areas forconversation and play, and bedrooms molded from tropical wood and local stone that invite relaxation and reflection on the home’s environment.
